Tragedy struck on December 10th, 2007 with the sudden death of Brian. Kathryn's brother was a 46 year old father of two, nicknamed GG for "Good Guy" because of his work with children's organizations and the less fortunate. Only in his death was it revealed that just a few days earlier, Brian had stopped to talk to a homeless man on the street and decided to treat him lunch at a nearby café. When he noticed the man did not have proper footwear for winter, he also took him shopping and bought him some boots.
Upon hearing of this special act of selflessness, Kathryn was inspired to honour her brother's legacy with a boot drive. She collected hundreds of boots from family, friends, school and church all wanting to "make a difference in someone's life."
Kathryn has delivered thousands of boots to Welcome Hall Mission ever since, holding boot drives to honour Brian's life! All it takes is one person, one act, one life, to make a difference in the lives of thousands!
